 Plant Trees on May 30 and June 7

Join us as we plant trees and shrubs in two city parks, creating two new naturalization areas. Wear sun protection and sturdy shoes (no sandals). Bring a shovel if you can. People of all ages and abilities are welcome. You will be planting trees and shrubs and mulching them.

Saturday, May 30, 8:30 am - noon, Berkshire Park (map)
Join ReForest London as we revisit a past project and plant more trees and shrubs in this park located near Springbank Drive.

Sunday, June 7, 1-4 pm, Past Presidents Park (map)
Join us as we plant trees and shrubs at Past Presidents Park, located on Millbank Drive, north off Southdale Road.

 AGM and Open House, June 11, 4:30-6:30 pm

Westminster Ponds (map)

Please join ReForest London as we celebrate the successes of 2008 and  our new home at the Westminster Ponds ESA. We will have light refreshments and a program that will include:

 

  • 2008 Success Stories - David Crockett, Chairman, ReForest London Board of Directors
  • Tree Please! - Linda Lustins, London Life (ReForest London Lead Sponsor)
  • Westminster Ponds ESA: Ecology, History, Preservation - brief introduction followed by a guided walk through the Ponds ESA by Dave Wake, active member of the McIllwraith Field Naturalists and past President of Nature Canada, who has been involved in studying and advocating for the protection of Westminster Ponds for 40 years
  • Commemorative Tree - Plant a Sugar Maple with us to celebrate our new home
  • Housewarming Gifts - Please bring a gently used item from our Wish List to help us furnish and equip our new offices

Native Tree Sale, Sunday, May 31, 1-3pm

The Old South Community Organization invites you to a native plant sale.

Where:  Carfrae Small Yard, Small Tree Demonstration Project (green space immediately south of Richmond St. Bridge, on the east side of Carfrae)

  • Tour Old South's newest public garden and get acquainted with trees and shrubs that are friendly to the environment (attract birds, bees and butterflies).
  • Purchase some hard to find native Trees and Shrubs featured in the Carfrae Green Gateway - Small Yard Small Tree demonstration project that are suitable for even the smallest of Old South yards 
  • Very affordable prices
  • Get advice from Old South gardening gurus
  • Pick up a free tree watering bucket

Proceeds from the sale will support future greening initiatives in Old South. Trees and shrubs provided by Van Den Nest Nursery, Eden Ontario. Supported in part by the Urban League of London.
