Al Gore Trees for the Future, June 9

Al Gore won't be at our event, but his trees will!

June 9, 10am-1pm
Veterans Memorial Parkway and Trafalgar

Your help is needed to plant more than 500 white spruce seedlings. Last week, Al Gore was in town to deliver his informative talk on climate change. This event, sponsored by the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation, has donating the seedlings to ReForest London. Additional seedlings have been donated by Canadale Nursery and Forestcare.

Help us plant these along the Veteran's Memorial Parkway, the first of 100,000 trees to be planted along this newly-named corridor. Wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and sunscreen and bring a shovel if you can.

Ontario Trillium Foundation gives us $69,400

MPP's Deb Matthews and Khalil Ramal were on hand to announce our OTF grant and help plant a tree or two.

ReForest London has again received a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation has been a vital supporter of our organization. In addition to helping us support community groups to plant trees, the grant aids our efforts to become more sustainable as an organization.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, receives funds from the government’s charity casino initiative. The Foundation allocates grants to eligible charitable and not-for-profit organizations in the arts and culture, environment, human and social services and sports and recreation sectors.

Our best season yet

Spring 2007 was our fifth planting season. We are still finalizing the numbers, but after Saturday's event, we will have planted well over 3,000 trees during the spring. This is more than we've planted in our previous 4 seasons of planting put together.

Thank you to all who have helped us this year and in previous years!

We'll have more details about our spring projects in our next eNews.
