We're coming back to Thames Park. Last year, the Old South Commmunity Organization planted over 160 trees and shrubs in a new naturalization area in Thames Park. This Saturday the group returns to plant additional trees, shrubs, and water-loving plants along a a wet area.
The event runs from 10am-1pm on May 6. The project site is behind the baseball diamonds. If you drive, park at the Thames Park parking lot, off Ridout, just south of the Thames River. Walk past the playset and the pool and you'll see our sign.
In addition to expanding the naturalized area at Thames Park, OSCO is teaming up with the Wortley Village Business Association and the City of London to plant more trees in Wortley Village.

Angry Agency, a punk-ska band organizes a benefit concert every year. This year, ReForest London was the group chosen to be the beneficiary of the concert.
The concert made over $1,300, and band members decided not only to donate the money to ReForest London, but to be involved in planning the planting project.
We'll be planting trees along the perimeter of Jaycee Park, near where many of the band members grew up.
The event runs from 1-4pm on Saturday, May 13. Jaycee Park is located off Aldersbrook Road, west of Wonderland and south of Fanshawe Park Road.

Our original planting date for Kiwanis Park of April 29 was poorly attended. However, we were able to plant 80 trees and shrubs.
The final important task to be completed is to spread mulch around the newly planted trees and shrubs to protect them from summer drought and weeds.
We need 4 volunteers on May 27 beginning at 10am. Please email info@reforestlondon.ca. to let us know if you can give about an hour to get the job done - the mulch is right next to the planting bed. We'll email you directions to the project site.

Thank you to all the volunteers who have come out this spring. You've made London a greener, healthier place to live. We couldn't do it without you!
A big thank you to our volunteer Management Committee as well, which continues to guide us and help us coordinate the many people and organizations involved in planning and implementing our projects.

Green Day comes to Old East! This Green Day is the annual Old East Garden Club plant exchange and compost sale, on Saturday May 20, from 9am until 2pm. The event will be held rain or shine on the railway lands north of Central and Elizabeth, just east of
Adelaide .
London Composts helps out again this year with a load of brown gold for your garden. Compost is the indispensable garden amendment - dig it in or use it as topdressing or mulch. Here’s your chance to get 40 pounds for a toonie if you bring your own bag or container, or $2.50 if you use the bags on site.
And, of course, there’s the plant exchange itself. Bring your divisions, seedlings or healthy plants you no longer want. If you’ve got nothing to swap, you can buy plants from 50 cents to $3.00. All proceeds go to support the work of the community association.
For more information, or if you’re interested in volunteering, contact Heather Phillips at (519) 438-8402 or visit the Old East Village Community Association web site.
