It is quite surreal to realize that Damone Roberts New York is finally opening. It has been one of the most trying experiences of my existence.

The salon has been in the works for almost two years now, and I must admit there were times when I seriously considered letting go of the dream.

Along the way I had to deal with snow storms, floods in the salon, contractors not showing up, letters from women calling me a liar for saying I was opening in N.Y, migraines, wasted funds, deliveries being lost and not accounted for, furniture and signage being completed in the wrong size or format, realizing we had the wrong permits, finding an apt for my employee, finding an apt for myself.

I could go on as that is only the half of it, but it's all in the past now, and I'm choosing to focus on the present.

I stayed in prayer and faith. I had the support of my family and friends, and continued looking towards the bigger picture.

I have learned that absolutely anything is possible with dedication and focus! I heard Oprah Winfrey once say that there is no such thing as luck...luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Now we are prepared!

The salon was designed and decorated by my better half Ramon Leon, and is quite stunning (... just like him).

The walls are our signature green, with customized stations designed by The Yvonne E. White Collection, that are stunning to the eye, but also functional with secret latches for wax pots, make-up applications, and areas for clients to put their personal belongings.

Ramon designed luxurious crystal chandeliers that greet you as soon as you step off the elevator into the waiting area.

The floors are a rich blonde bamboo that opens up the space in a warm manner, and the fabric from the drapes was imported from France with hand sewn beading that reflects the sunlight throughout the room.

I want to personally thank Ramon Leon, Marilyn Brown, Nia Hill, D'Angela Steed, Tchad Robinson, Jeff Vaala, Ken Kelly, Mike Epps, Darrell Miller, Scott Gilderman, Randi Rahm, Kerry Roberts, Armond Hambrick, Michelle Riggs,Yvonne E. White, the clients who have continued to support me as I fulfill my dreams, and all those I may have forgotten to write, but not forgotten in my spirit.

We are sad to hear about the passing of T.V icon Suzanne Pleshette.

Suzanne appeared in many films including the Alfred Hitchcock classic "The Birds", and later in the television series "The Bob Newhart show".

I'm gonna miss her smile the most, as she always brought pleasant energy with her when she walked through our salon doors.

We send our prayers and light to all of her family and loved ones.
